What they do
Imagen is not a pure AI software company. It's a vertically integrated managed service — they handle the full imaging workflow: equipment, AI-assisted interpretation, accreditation support, EMR integration, and virtual specialist consults. The pitch to independent practices is a turnkey imaging department they couldn't otherwise afford or staff.
The core differentiation: most competitors choose a lane — either AI software (Aidoc, Viz.ai) or traditional teleradiology (Radiology Partners, vRad). Imagen does both. Their reads come from fellowship-trained, sub-specialized radiologists working with FDA-cleared AI that catches what humans miss and vice versa.
This matters clinically. A 73% reduction in life-threatening misses on chest imaging. A 47% reduction in fracture misinterpretations, published in PNAS. These aren't marketing claims — they're peer-reviewed results. The AI has FDA clearance; the research is in Nature, PNAS, and NPJ Digital Medicine.
Ensure that every patient receives the right diagnosis at the right time.
Alex Dresner, CEO & Co-founder
The team
The company was built out of personal experience with diagnostic failure — not a market opportunity slide.
Alex Dresner
Co-founder · CEO
The founding story is visceral. Dresner's father's lung cancer was missed by radiology. Later, Dresner himself received a false negative before a second opinion found his own cancer. He built Imagen because he knew firsthand what diagnostic error costs. That origin shapes how the company talks about its mission — it's not abstract.
Rob Lindsey
Co-founder · Chief Science Officer
PhD in Computer Science from University of Colorado Boulder. His research combined machine learning with psychological modeling. Described Imagen's AI as 'a spellcheck for clinicians' — designed to catch errors, not replace judgment. Published fracture-detection research in PNAS. Noted for wanting to put specialized clinical expertise within reach of every patient, globally.

Why candidates are excited
The mission has teeth — and a personal origin story
The CEO built this company after diagnostic radiology missed his father's cancer, then missed his own. That's not a pitch — it's a reason to show up every day. The team is mission-driven in a way that comes through in how they talk about the work.
Fastest-growing teleradiology group in the country
They're on track to be the fifth-largest teleradiology practice in the U.S. by end of this year, expanding from 23 to 35 states and from 3.5M to 5M patients annually by 2027. The velocity is real.
A model competitors can't quickly copy
Imagen occupies a unique position: the only major player combining fellowship-trained sub-specialists with FDA-cleared AI in a managed service. Pure-play AI vendors (Aidoc, Viz.ai) don't provide radiologist reads. Traditional teleradiology groups (Radiology Partners, vRad) don't have Imagen's AI. The integrated model is harder to replicate than either side alone.
Google Ventures backed — serious healthcare infrastructure bet
GV doesn't back hype. Their pattern is infrastructure plays in healthcare with durable recurring revenue. GV came in on the Series B, with Casdin Capital and Threshold Ventures, and Casdin led the Series C in February 2021.
Culture: written, data-driven, high-bar
Meetings come with pre-reads. Decisions come with data. The team expects you to show up prepared and draw conclusions from evidence. For people who want that kind of operating environment in healthcare, it's rare.
Open roles
Talent Collective is placing candidates into the following roles. Reach out to learn more or get introduced.
Candidate Success Manager
Clinical Talent · Remote
Own the middle and late stages of the radiologist candidate journey, converting qualified applicants into signed physicians. Negotiate compensation within defined parameters, maintain pipeline integrity, partner with the medical director to close, and drive candidate experience end-to-end. Join a specialist recruiting team that has tripled its throughput in recent months and is adding another seat. The bar is judgment, curiosity, and horsepower over a perfect résumé match: people who can absorb a new set of rules fast, pull insight from the data, and build real relationships with physicians. Described internally as one of the most important roles at Imagen: the single largest driver of the company's P&L.
Director, Clinical Recruiting
Clinical Talent · Remote
Lead the strategy and operating model for physician recruiting at Imagen, primarily radiologists. Manage the full funnel from RVU requirements to signed contracts, scale a high-performing specialist recruiting team, and partner closely with clinical operations and executive leadership. Ideal for someone who has built recruiting engines in high-volume, high-stakes clinical environments. Imagen is hiring for this seat selectively, so we're only introducing exceptional leaders who can drive expansion into new states and 2027 growth targets.
Senior Recruiter
Corporate Talent · Remote
Own end-to-end hiring for every non-physician function at Imagen: commercial, customer success, operations, G&A, and tech. Run full-cycle searches from intake to close, flex up into Director and VP-level roles, and use pipeline data to build the frameworks and processes the team scales on. Partner closely with department heads as a trusted advisor on talent density and hiring decisions, with room to shape recruiting programs beyond the req load. A key seat on a lean corporate team supporting Imagen's growth from ~300 to 500 people by 2028.
